Decree-Law no. 117/2024 of 30 December 2024 is responsible for implementing significant changes to the legal framework for Territorial Management Instruments (RJIGT), approved by Decree-Law no. 80/2015 of 14 May.
The changes now introduced are mainly aimed, in line with the objectives of the “Building Portugal” plan, at meeting the need to put an end to the shortage of housing and the increase in its cost, by increasing the availability of land for housing construction, with the inherent safeguarding of natural resources.
Although this Decree-Law comes into force on 29 January 2025, the provisions of article 199 of Decree-Law no. 80/2015, of May 14 as amended by this Decree-Law, came into force on 31 December 2024.
